Who we are
We consist of
people living in the constituency who accept the policies and
programmes of the Labour party as developed through our National
Policy Forum and our sovereign body the Annual Conference. We are a
party of democratic socialists, but we certainly do not “all think
the same” and not all members relish the title “socialist”. However,
in our view, Labour continues to be the party of the many, not the
few, and we pursue policies that will particularly benefit those in
the greatest need. We are part of the larger labour movement with
affiliated organisations from the trades unions such as Unite,
Communication Workers Union (CWU), and the General, Municipal and
Boilermakers union (GMB) and the Union of Shop, Distribution and
Allied Workers union (Usdaw). Our members are individually members
of other unions, the Co-operative Party, the Fabian Society,
Christian Socialists and so on, and community groups such as
community associations, churches, and educational endeavours.
